What is a hair topper?

A plain-English guide to toppers: what they are, who they help, and how they differ from wigs and extensions.

A hair topper is a piece of hair on a small base that clips onto the top of your own hair. It adds coverage where your scalp shows, most often at the crown and parting.

Topper vs wig vs extension

A wig covers your whole head. A topper covers only the top. Extensions add length or volume lower down. If your concern is scalp showing on top, a topper is usually the answer.

How base size works

The base is measured in inches, like 2×4 or 3×5. A larger base covers more of your scalp. A 3×5 covers most crown thinning; a 2×4 sits along the part.

Human hair vs synthetic

Human hair looks and moves most naturally and takes low heat styling. YourHair sells 100% human hair.

Questions

Do toppers look obvious?

Matched shade, sensible density and correct base size make a topper hard to notice. Poor shade match is the usual giveaway, which is why we match before dispatch.
